Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 December 2025

HytaleANZ ("HytaleANZ", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information when you access or use hytaleanz.com (the "Site") and any related pages, features, tools, integrations, and services we offer (together, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and our Refund Policy.

This policy is designed for users in Australia and New Zealand, but we welcome users worldwide. If local laws apply to you (for example, the GDPR/UK GDPR), additional rights and rules may apply as described below.

1. Key definitions

  • Personal information means information that identifies you, or could reasonably identify you (for example, name, email, or online identifiers).
  • Account means an account you create with us, including via third-party sign-in methods where available.
  • Third-party services means external services you can connect to your Account (for example, Discord, Twitch, YouTube).

2. Information we collect

We collect information in a few ways:

A. Information you provide

  • Account and profile details: such as display name, email address, and optional profile details you choose to add.
  • Content you submit: such as server listings, posts, comments, messages, images, links, and other information you submit through the Services.
  • Support and communications: information you provide when you contact us (for example via Discord, email, contact forms), including the content of your messages.

B. Information from connected third-party services

If you choose to connect a third-party service, we may receive information from that service based on the permissions you grant. This can include:

  • username, user ID, avatar, and public profile data
  • channel or account statistics that the provider makes available via its APIs
  • access tokens needed to keep the connection working (stored securely)

We do not receive your third-party passwords. Each third-party service controls what data it shares and how. You can usually revoke access at any time in your third-party account settings.

C. Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, device type, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, actions taken, and approximate location (derived from IP).
  • Log and security data: timestamps, authentication events, and diagnostic information to help prevent abuse and keep the Services secure.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: used to operate the Services, remember preferences, and support analytics and security features. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

D. Payment information

If we offer purchases, subscriptions, donations, or paid features, payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We typically receive limited information (for example, a transaction ID, status, and the email or account identifier needed to provide the purchase). We do not store full payment card details unless explicitly stated.

If you contact us about a purchase issue (including non-delivery, duplicate charges, or disputes), we may process transaction details and related information to investigate and respond. For purchase rules and refund/remedy conditions, see our Refund Policy.

3. How we use your information

We use information we collect to operate, improve, and secure the Services, including to:

  • create and manage Accounts and provide core features
  • publish and display content you submit (such as server listings), based on your settings
  • enable account connections to third-party services you choose to link
  • communicate with you about your Account, updates, security alerts, and support requests
  • monitor, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and security incidents
  • analyse usage trends to improve performance and user experience
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

4. Legal bases for processing

Where required (including for users in the EEA/UK), we process personal data under one or more legal bases, such as:

  • Contract: to provide the Services you request
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, improve, and operate the Services (balanced against your rights)
  • Consent: for certain optional features (for example, some integrations or marketing, where used)
  • Legal obligations: where we must comply with the law

5. How we share information

We may share information in these circumstances:

  • With service providers: hosting, authentication, database, analytics, security, email delivery, and customer support tools we use to operate the Services.
  • With third-party services you connect: to enable the connection and sync features (as directed by you).
  • Public or shared areas: any information you post in public areas (for example, a server listing) may be visible to other users and visitors.
  • Legal and safety reasons: where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, respond to valid requests, protect our rights, protect users, or investigate fraud and abuse.
  • Business changes: if we undergo a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. International data transfers

We may store or process information in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we take steps to protect your information (for example, through contractual protections and security controls).

7. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and the reason we collected it. We may retain certain logs and records for security, fraud prevention, and compliance purposes.

Purchase-related records (such as transaction IDs and fulfilment status) may be retained for accounting, dispute handling, and fraud prevention.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Account controls: you can update certain profile details within the Services (where available).
  • Access and correction: you can request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you. In New Zealand, agencies generally must respond as soon as practicable and usually within 20 working days.
  • Deletion: you can request deletion of your Account and associated personal information, subject to certain legal and security retention needs.
  • Marketing: where we send marketing emails, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link (transactional and security messages may still be sent).
  • Cookies: you can control cookies via browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features.

9. Security and data breaches

We use administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will take steps consistent with applicable law, including notifying affected individuals and relevant regulators where required.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

In some regions, additional rules may apply for users under 16 (or a lower age set by local law). Where required, parental consent may be needed for certain processing activities.

11. Third-party links

The Services may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Please review their privacy policies before providing information to them.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows when this policy was last revised. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice within the Services.

13. Contact us

If you have questions, requests, or complaints about privacy, contact us via our official Discord server or email us at hytaleanz@gmail.com. If you are contacting us about a data request, please include enough information for us to verify your identity and locate your Account.

For purchase issues (including non-delivery, duplicate charges, or disputes), please review our Refund Policy and then contact us with your transaction details.
